Announcing a New Venture!

Announcing a New Venture!

Valerie and Myrt

I recently announced that I am going to England to speak at THE Genealogy Show in Birmingham on June 7-8, 2019. Well, my good friend, genealogist, blogger and webinar host, Myrt, from DearMyrtle is also going to the BIG event. We decided to make our trips to the UK, a most excellent genealogy adventure! We created a new blog, a Youtube channel and a Facebook group, so you can follow our adventures, as we take you along in our virtual suitcases. Everything we learn about what you need to know and do, to plan your own genealogy adventures, we will share with you. We have also created boards on Pinterest, so search for “Valerie and Myrt” there.

We plan to share pictures we take along the way on Instagram and live action tweets on Twitter, as we explore and experience the UK – so look for our hashtag #valeriemyrt. And don’t forget to keep coming here to my blog, FamilyCherished, where I will share more about the trip. I will also be sharing about Rootstech, where I am presenting 5 times (*eek*), and everything else family history related.

Here are things that we have planned to share with you:

  • how to make a travel itinerary
  • what is the best time and way to book flights and hotel reservations
  • getting your passport and do you need visas
  • what to pack
  • what to carry onboard an international plane flight
  • how to deal with jet lag
  • transportation
  • Money and budget tips
  • cool places to shop
  • genealogical researching abroad

Valerie’s adventure will include:

  • getting in walking shape and increasing physical fitness before the trip
  • presenting at an international conference
  • what to eat, see and do in England, Scotland and Ireland
  • walking in her ancestor’s footsteps in the UK
  • keeping a travel bullet journal
  • plus some surprise adventures

Myrt’s adventures will include:

  • finding wheelchair access abroad
  • interviews with other presenters and attendees at THE Genealogy Show
  • what to eat, see and do in England and Norway
  • Researching at The National Archives
  • Mr. Myrt’s ancestors in Norway

Can’t wait to share the adventure! Come join the fun and follow along.
