Day 13: Social Media in Your Life
When was the last time you actually wrote a real letter and mailed it through the post office? When was the last time you wrote a text, instant message, sent an email or posted on Instagram or Facebook? Digital messaging is how most of us communicate, especially with our younger generations on a daily basis.
What will remain of these conversation for our posterity? I still have the voicemail that my now deceased father left on my phone and will play it from time to time when I am missing him.
So, today’s challenge is to go through your emails, your text conversations, etc. and save them. I took a screenshot of my texts, I exported emails to evernote and also printed certain letters to save. My son who is a junior in college at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks is majoring in wildlife biology seldom calls, but he will text. I use text messaging to have conversations with him. Saving some of these texts, that capture this relationship is important for me to save in my own record.
I’ve had books printed of my yearly Facebook posts, and you could do the same with Twitter, Mashable has created several companies that offer this service that you can read about here. This is an easy way to create a timeline record of your life and makes writing a personal history of your life by using these timelines of your posts.
Get these important conversations and writing, photos, etc. off your phone!
